Choosing the right way to pay for your classes is important.  You want to save money and have flexibility, but you also want to make sure you are not getting locked into anything.

So we’ve put together answers to a lot of common concerns and questions so you can make a decision armed with all the info you need.

Why membership?

We choose to have a membership model of payment at Move Through Life Dance Studio for a number of reasons.

Community and belonging

Being a member means you are part of a community of people who know you, share your goals, and care about your progress. You are not alone. Instead, you are part of something really special, where you can connect with other people show love dance as much as you do.

Support and commitment

The commitment you make by joining, coupled with the support we give you, helps you to stay on track. Life is busy and unexpected things comes up. We’ll be there to support you and give you the encouragement you need to keep dancing.

Save money

You save money when by paying through membership, making it even more affordable to dance class regularly. Each and every member helps to keep classes running by making sure there are enough people to keep classes running, even if you miss a few here and there.

Membership details

All memberships

  • give you the flexibility to choose any of our classes (so you can have your usual class but if you can’t make it one week, or you want to try something new, you can do a different class)
  • offer up to 40% discount compared to casual prices
  • 12 months duration, but can be put on hold or cancelled
  • paid by autopay every 4 weeks (there is a 4 week break from mid-December to mid-January, so you won’t pay your membership fee in December)

Payments and pricing

What credit cards can I use to pay for classes

We accept Visa and Mastercard.  We do not accept AMEX or other credit cards.

Are my card or account details safe?

We use Zen Planner as our booking system, and you can pay via credit card or direct debit.  Zen Planner is a PCI Compliant Level 1 Service Provider.

This means that Zen Planner meets the credit card industry’s highest security standard, so you can rest assured that your data is safe.

Part of being compliant includes encrypting your credit card numbers and showing only partial credit card information to Move Through Life in the booking software.

Zen Planner also encrypt your billing information, back it up daily, and securely store it offsite. Each year, they must go through a rigorous audit to ensure that they maintain those high standards.

Is there a concession price?

Yes, there is a 10% discount for people who hold a student, pensioner or seniors concession card.  You will need to show us your card to access the discount, and then we’ll send you a discount code to access the cheaper price.  Once you have the discount code, you can use it for any class for a period of 12 months.  After 12 months, you will need to show us your card again to show it is still valid, and we’ll extend the period of your discount code for another 12 months.

Do I lose my money if I miss a class?

If you miss your regular class, or any class you’ve booked into, you don’t lose the money. You can just book into another class instead.  We don’t refund money for missed classes though.

If you have bought a single class, you have a month from purchase date to book into another class.

If you have a membership, you have until the end of the current membership contract to use your classes (unused classe roll over every 4 weeks)

Do you take cash or EFT (electronic funds transfer) payments?

You can pay cash for some classes (cash cannot be paid for tap or jazz classes unless their is a front desk service). Other than the studio owner (Jo McDonald) teachers are not able to take cash payments.

If you cannot pay by credit card or from your bank account in our booking system, we can accept an EFT payment, although this is not preferred.  Please get in touch with us at info@movethroughlife.com.au or call 0408 240 772 if you need to make an EFT payment and we will send you the BSB, account name, account number, and reference.  Once you have made the EFT payment, make sure you send an email to info@movethroughlife.com.au to let us know so we can update your account in our booking system.

Can I pay by invoice instead of upfront?

We only accept upfront payments.

Will you ever change my membership fee?

Fees are subject to change, even if you are partway through a membership agreement. This will only occur if there are changes to our costs, such as the requirement to register for GST, significant increases in venue or teaching fees, or insufficient members to cover the costs of operating the dance studio.  You will be advised in writing if this ever happens before your membership fee changes, and given an explanation for why we need to change the prices.

Bookings & cancellations

How do I book into classes?

You can book yourself into classes through Zen Planner, our online booking system, either through the Zen Planner website version or the Zen Planner mobile app (available from the Apple Store or Google Play).

If you want us to book you into a particular class each week for the year, simply email (info@movethroughlife.com.au) or phone or text (0408 240 772) to let us know which class and we’ll book you in.

Recurring bookings are the simplest option if you want to do the same class each week as it means you won’t miss out if the class gets booked out (and some of them do).  You can always cancel the booking if it turns out you can’t make it, but you do need to provide 8 hour’s notice.

How do I cancel a class if I’ve booked but can’t make it?

You can cancel your class online via Zen Planner website or mobile app, or by getting in touch by email (info@movethroughlife.com.au) or phone / text (0402 070 021).

If you want to be able to use the credit for that class for another class, you will need to cancel at least 8 hours before the class commences. This is called an ‘early cancellation’.  If you cancel less than 8 hours before the class commences, it will be a ‘late cancellation’, which means you lose the class.

The reason we require 8 hour’s notice is because if there are insufficient people booked to cover the cost of the class we may cancel it.

What happens if Move Through Life Dance Studio cancels a class?

We may cancel a class if there are insufficient bookings to cover costs, or if the teacher or venue is not available.

If there are insufficient bookings to cover costs and you are booked in, we will either email or text your mobile.  We only notify you by mobile if the cancellation is short notice (eg less than 1 day).   If you haven’t given us a mobile number, we will send the cancellation notice to your email address.

If you haven’t booked into class, we won’t advise you of the cancellation.

Once the class is cancelled, it will show as ‘cancelled’ in the booking system, and you won’t be able to book into it.

In the event that we cancel a class, you will not lose your class credit, and will be able to use that to book into another class.

Membership

How do I sign up for a membership?

You can sign up through our online booking system (Zen Planner), or you can get in touch with us to go through it over the phone or in person.

How long does a membership go for?

The memberships are for 12 months.  At the end of the 12 months, your membership will automatically renews.  But don’t worry, we’ll send you an email before it is due to renew so you can stop the renewal if you want.  If you don’t get in touch in time, no worries, we will cancel your membership and monthly payments from the date you have contacted us.

To cancel a renewal, complete our online cancellation form.

Will I get stuck paying for something I no longer use?

Our number one priority is to bring you the best classes at the best price.   The membership is cheaper than single classes because we want to reward you for coming regularly.  We also want to make it as easy as possible to pay, and a regular automatic payment means zero effort from you.

But we know that sometimes things change.  You might have booked a 2 month holiday, or find that you’ve injured yourself or you’re ill.  Perhaps you get a different job and can no longer come to class, or you move and classes are too far away.

For this reason we’ve built in the option to put your membership on hold, or cancel it.

Putting your membership on hold means that any unused classes you’ve paid for won’t expire, and your won’t make any more payments until you return.  Once you return, your membership picks up where you left off.  For example, you bought your membership in June and it ends in May, but you put it on hold for a month, you don’t pay anything during the month you’re away, and your plan will now go until June.

A cancellation means you stop the membership entirely.

There is no fee to cancel your membership, making it a ‘NO LOCK-IN’ membership.  There is a $10 fee to put your membership on hold.

What if I find out I am not coming to class as much as I thought I would?

No problem, you can just change your membership..

The same conditions apply as for cancelling a membership or putting it on hold.

What happens if I go on holiday or injure myself?

Don’t worry, you won’t have to pay for your membership while you are unable to use it for a period of 2 months or more.  You can put your plan on hold by emailing us at info@movethroughlife.com.au.

If you are injured or ill, you can put your membership on hold it for the expected recovery time.  If you are not recovered by then, you can email us again to extend the hold.

We recommend you provide at least two weeks’ notice before your next payment is due to avoid the possibility that your next payment may be deducted before we have processed the hold. If you haven’t provided two weeks’ notice and the next payment is deducted you will not receive a refund.

If you expect you’ll recover quickly and don’t think you’ll need to put your membership on hold, but then it turns out you are ill or injured for longer, simply email us with the details and we can cancel future payments to the value of what you’ve paid for but missed.

Can I switch membership plans?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your membership at any time.

If you want to upgrade, all you have to do is email us at info@movethroughlife.com.au to let us know what plan you want and to provide written authorisation for us to increase your monthly instalment.

If you want to downgrade, you can email us at info@movethroughlife.com.au to change it.  We recommend you provide at least two weeks’ notice before your next payment is due to avoid the possibility that your next payment may be deducted before we have processed the hold. If you haven’t provided two weeks’ notice and the next payment is deducted you will not receive a refund.

What is meant by ‘no lock-in’?

All of our plans are no lock-in, which means that you are not locked into the payments.  You can put your membership on hold or cancel your plan if you need to.  We recommend you provide at least two weeks’ notice before your next payment is due to avoid the possibility that your next payment may be deducted before we have processed the cancellation. If you haven’t provided two weeks’ notice and the next payment is deducted you will not receive a refund.

Let us know by email (info@movethroughlife.com.au) if you want to stop your plan and we’ll get it done for you.

We don’t backdate cancellations though unless there are extenuating circumstances.

How do I cancel my membership?

Simply complete your online cancellation form to let us know you’d like to cancel your plan.

What are the terms and conditions of membership?

Can I try a class before signing up for membership?

Yes, of course you can.  You can buy a single class, a ‘2 for 1’ pass, or the ‘7 day unlimited classes’ pass.
