I don’t think a dance class is just about learning to dance.  It’s about having a fantastic experience.  Part of that is feeling welcome.  No-one likes the uncomfortable feeling of being the only person in the room who doesn’t know someone.  So as a teacher, I believe a big part of my role is to be a bit like a party host.  It’s my job to make sure you’re having a good time.  And of course, to teach you how to dance.

I am fascinated with how the human body works, and how to help you get more in tune with your body, so you can move with greater ease, and make sure your dance class improves your physical condition and that you stay injury free.

I am a musician as well as a dancer, so the music I choose is very important.  In fact, it’s one of the things people say they enjoy most about my classes.  I enjoy helping people to discover both rhythm and musicality, so they can become immersed in the music and movement, instead of being self-conscious about whether they’re getting it right or not.

The dance styles I teach are ballet, contemporary, jazz, and beginner tap.  My personal favourite is contemporary, because I love how it has a strong technical foundation and yet it teaches you to be more body aware and to move with greater ease.

In my classes, you can expect to keep moving so you build up a sweat, learn to use imagery to dance with more ease, keep learning & mastering new dance movements, enjoy some great music, laugh a lot, and feel beautiful!

I guess you’d like to know what qualifies me to teach you.  I hold a Graduate Diploma in Creative Industries (Dance Teaching), and achieved distinction for my advanced modern dance exams with the Imperial Society for Teachers of Dance.  I am an independent and lifelong learner, so I created the amazing teaching team at Move Through Life so I could learn from them and continue to grow as a dancer and teacher. I also hold a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Certificate IV in Commercial Music (Performance).  I was on the Board of Ausdance SA for six years, including President for the last three.

Move Through Life is my baby and has given me an incredible amount of joy since founding it in 2004, and encouraging as many people as I can to continue or start to dance.

I want your experience with our customer service team to be just as enjoyable as your dance lessons.

I understand what is like to feel scared to take on a new commitment. It doesn’t seem that long ago since I started my first class with Move Through Life.  You might be thinking “Will I fit in? Will I stand out?” I know from personal experience the classes offered make you feel empowered and confident about yourself. At the same time, you can feel that you are not sure of what you need, what classes are best for you and the frustration you can feel when people do not understand where you are coming from.

I believe my job is to make you feel comfortable about asking questions, to enjoy your experience with dance and the people on the end of the phone or an email. I will ensure that you feel part of a family, from your enjoyment to dance and the music to the interaction with our staff and our systems.

This means that I will be there to help you learn how to book classes, navigate our website, enjoy our Facebook family and many other avenues of becoming a member of Move Through Life Dance Studio.

I have spent my entire career working in customer service, from a part time burger girl, to management and then moving onto the banking industry. One thing I have learned throughout my time in all my customer roles is that making you feel valued, heard and part of our group is the most important thing.

I look forward to talking to you, meeting you through dance classes and enjoying the journey through dance and friendship.

I am passionate about dance. Being a dance teacher is something that makes me really happy because it´s an opportunity to help other women follow their dream to dance. I started to dance ballet when I was a little girl, 3 years old, in Brazil. When I was 11 years old started to dance jazz and joined a performer group that used to travel all over the country to participate festivals and contests.

I performed jazz, ballet, tap dancing, street dance and Irish dance choreographies for over 15 years. Each presentation and contest I joined were full of other interesting and wonderful dance groups and also a chance to watch different styles of choreographies, customs and songs. During festivals I not only performed, but also improved my ability to dance doing courses that enriched my experience as a dancer, a teacher and a choreographer.

After a few years in the main group from the school dance I started to teach jazz, ballet and tap dance for four years long. Becoming a dance teacher made me realise how dance help people develop body awareness and to build strength and confidence. Through dance you can also develop discipline, work as a team and respect others.

I love dancing and find that music and moving through the rhythm is a very mindful experience. I’m also a yoga teacher and use some of the stretching and breathing techniques during dance classes. My teaching is full of creativity techniques to develop body conscious, learn how to know your limits and gently and in a consistent way push yourself to be your better version of yourself every day.

I  also graduated in Journalism and worked in the Communications Industry for 14 years. The busy life as a journalist brought me out from the stage, so I understands what it is to leave a great passion because of other priorities in life such as a new career, family commitments or health issues.

I have two amazing and beautiful daughters and moved to Australia from Brazil with my family in 2020. I’m so pleased to join the Move Through Life team, because dancing is nothing but making people happy!

I’ve loved moving to music for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest dance memories is our neighbour giving me a book on How To Be A Ballerina for my seventh birthday, and I used to practice positions of the feet and arms every day. Since then, I have taken classes in classical ballet, contemporary, folk, salsa and pole dancing. I’ve recently come back to the stage for the first time in 25 years to perform my own choreography and have enjoyed every moment of it, even the nerve wracking moments! I fully intend to keep dancing for as long as possible, no matter the genre, and I constantly surprise myself at what my body can achieve.

I firmly believe that people are made and meant to dance. It is one of the oldest art forms out there. My teaching is based on providing a welcoming atmosphere in the classroom, some quirky humour, loads of enthusiasm, and passing on some of my infectious joy and wonder in the ways you can use your body to move and to enjoy music. Welcome to my class!

Move Through Life Dance Studio offers dance classes to adults of all ages in ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, and mature dance (over 50s).  We pride ourselves on offering you a place to indulge your love of dance, whether you’re a complete beginner, had a long break from dance, or danced all your life.  Our classes have a broad mix of ages, and our philosophy is that you are never too old to dance, it is never too late to start, and you can dance forever!
